One in five Irish enterprises with ten or more employees used AI in 2025. That’s approximately the EU average and around half Denmark’s rate. Adoption reached 58% among large Irish enterprises, while smaller surveyed firms lagged. Our analysis is pointing us to the conclusion that demand for evidenced, governed delivery will be concentrated where adoption, budget and regulation meet. This is a commercial expectation, not a forecast established by these figures.

The AI coding vendors are now bigger than the forecasts for their own market. The fastest-growing of them, OpenAI's Codex, is not even in the count. The forecasts are not wrong. They are late. Treat every published market size as a floor, and buy as if the vendors' growth rate is the real one.

If you pay vendors to build, modernise, or test software, you are part of a €96 billion market this year, and on the analysts' own growth rates a €193 billion one by 2030. That is the spend autonomous software delivery competes for. It is also the smaller of the two numbers that matter.

Agents mark their own work as done. Scanners check that a control exists, not that it works. The numbers show where that leads: more code, weaker code, and a year of incidents that between them spell out the controls nobody enforced. Here is what we built into Forge to deal with it, and what you should be asking any supplier to show you.

Adoption is near-universal, trust is a minority position, and the measurements say the caution is justified. The gap between generated and verified software is the most important fact in software delivery right now.

Writing code faster was never the hard part. Shipping something audited, documented and compliant is.
