Overview

Vodafone partnered with SevTech to define a Cloud Migration Strategy for transitioning its extensive application landscape from legacy data centers to a multi-cloud environment spanning AWS, Azure, and Oracle Cloud.

SevTech conducted an in-depth assessment, engaged key stakeholders through workshops, and developed a structured roadmap to ensure a seamless, secure, and efficient migration. The strategy prioritised scalability, performance optimisation, and long-term cost efficiency.

Challenge

Vodafone’s existing IT infrastructure was heavily reliant on aging, on-premises data centers, leading to high maintenance costs and operational inefficiencies. Migrating to the Cloud required careful selection of cloud platforms, ensuring regulatory compliance, minimising service disruptions, and managing complex application interdependencies.

Additionally, Vodafone needed a clear governance and operating model to effectively manage workloads across multiple cloud providers while ensuring security and performance consistency.

Solution

SevTech executed a comprehensive cloud assessment, categorising Vodafone’s applications based on technical feasibility, cost, and business impact.

A phased migration plan was developed, starting with non-critical applications before transitioning mission-critical systems. The strategy leveraged AWS, Azure, and Oracle Cloud to align with specific workload requirements. SevTech also designed a governance framework and a cloud operating model to ensure a smooth transition and ongoing cloud management.
